WORK — In these seasons we as a family of servant-missionaries absolutely get after the work that God has given us to steward here in Okinawa.
REST — In these seasons we as a family of servant-missionaries prioritize rest, trusting in the finished work of Christ, and in the ongoing work of Christ through his Spirit. Generally, what this means is the only church-wide scheduled events, outside of our weekend worship gatherings, must promote rest and/or celebration in the gospel.
Missional communities maintain autonomy over their rhythms and are free to gather during all seasons. However, all MC’s will be encouraged to honor the summer rest season (June & July) to rest and reset before heading into the fall.
Go, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart, for God has already approved what you do. (Ecclesiastes 9:7, ESV, emphasis added)
There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God, for apart from him who can eat or who can have enjoyment? For to the one who pleases him God has given wisdom and knowledge and joy… (Ecclesiastes 2:24-26a, ESV.)
As of June 1st we are in typhoon season. This notification will be updated if our services are affected by the weather.
