WHAT TO EXPECT
Here at Pillar, we are passionate about equipping women for the good work God has given us to steward in Okinawa. We seek to fulfill this call by being “Word-filled women” who gather to hear and follow God’s voice as revealed in His Word and who are sent out on mission to faithfully proclaim the gospel and make disciples of all nations, starting here in Japan.
While COVID-19 has introduced some new challenges for how we gather as women, we are actively working to find creative ways to grow and build community in this season. Throughout the year, we host several Bible, book studies, and equipping events as well as coffee connections and gospel rehearsal meals, which are times for women at Pillar to gather and connect over coffee or a meal.
If you have any questions about engaging in Pillar’s women’s discipleship ministry, please reach out to our Women’s Discipleship Coordinator, Lauren Dalton at [email protected].
WOMEN’S WEEKLY STUDY
During the winter, spring, and fall seasons, Pillar women alternate between Bible studies and book studies as an expression of our commitment to know God by deeply studying His Word. A few of our past studies include inductively studying the book of Jonah, Courtney Doctor’s From Garden to Glory study, and Lifeway’s Advent study. This coming year, we hope to study the book of Nehemiah as well as gather to read rich Christian books such as Delighting in the Trinity by Michael Reeves.
Women’s Fall Bible Study | Rebuild: A study in Nehemiah
Join us on Thursday mornings and Tuesday evenings from September 9 – November 9 for a 9-week study on the book of Nehemiah. For this study, we will be using Kathleen Neilson and D.A. Carson’s “Rebuild: A Study in Nehemiah”, which is available for download, free of charge, on The Gospel Coalition’s website.
We are so excited to learn about God’s faithfulness and provision for His people through Nehemiah, a man who prayerfully sought God’s will and glory. We will be learning how to study the text for ourselves (inductive study) while also utilizing the free PDF study guide above that will help us dig deeper. For 9 weeks, we will learn, share, and memorize truths from Nehemiah so that our hearts and minds are drawn to the praise of God’s sovereignty. There will be a morning gathering hosted at Pillar Church on Thursday mornings from 9:30-11:00am, and an evening gathering hosted at the home of one of our church members outside the Legion Gate of Camp Foster on Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:30pm. Childcare will be provided for the morning gathering only. We hope many of you will join us for this study!

Women’s Welcome Coffee
We invite you to join us for our fall Women’s Welcome Coffee on Wednesday, September 8 from 9:30-11:30am on the 3rd Floor of the Pillar Children’s Building! Childcare is provided. Due to COVID-19, we’ve had to limit the size of many of our coffee connections this past year and wanted to host an event where we could all gather together as women to fellowship and enjoy some delicious treats. This is a come-and-go event, and we’ll provide Pittman Coffee and Brown Roll cinnamon rolls. Whether you are new to Pillar or have been here for a while, we hope you’ll join us!
