In the opening of Jonah, a word from God commands him to deliver a message of warning to a foreign people. But the prophet’s own distant and rebellious heart is exposed by the mission, and he sets out running from God’s presence. Through the entire book Jonah never really stops running, but neither does his good heavenly Father who pursues him. In this series we will see that while we are on mission as His sent people, our good Father faithfully pursues us as His mission. And we’ll be challenged to come to grips with God’s judgment and mercy in ways that require our hearts to be reshaped by the gospel.
