Marriage, by God’s design, is meant to be a reflection of the relationship between Christ and his bride – the church. And, by God’s design, Christ’s relationship with his bride, the church – is meant to serve as a pattern for our marriages. In this sermon we focus on just two aspects of that pattern, which were on full display in Jesus’ advent – submission & sacrifice.
Jesus’ submission to the Father was expressed most fully by his submission to the needs of his bride – the church.
Jesus’ sacrifice – death so his bride could know life – stands for all time as the clearest expression – an enduring and living definition of what it means to love.
